What is Transport and Marketing Assistance (TMA) Scheme?
The "Transport and Marketing Assistance" (TMA) by the DGFT under the Ministry of Commerce is provided for export of specified agriculture products to specified destinations. The scheme aims to provide assistance for the international component of freight and marketing of agricultural produce which is likely to mitigate disadvantage of higher cost of transportation of export of specified agriculture products due to trans-shipment and to promote brand recognition for Indian agricultural products in the specified overseas markets.
Under this scheme, the transportation cost of specific agricultural products have been reduced. This is done to provide competitive pricing edge for the products in international markets. Transportation cost is getting prohibitive with the cost escalation of fuel prices frequently. Hence this scheme provides a great advantage to exporters and farmers if they are aware of this scheme. The Assistance is extended for export of eligible agriculture products to the notified destinations/countries and further limited to the rates as notified therein
