What is Duty free import authorizations Scheme?
Duty free import authorisations (DFIA) is issued on post export basis for products for which Standard Input output Norms (SION) have been notified . The DFIA scheme issued by DGFT is issued to allow duty free import of inputs, used in the manufacture of export product making nominal allowance for fuel, catalyst, wastage, energy, etc. DFIA shall be exempted from Basic Customs Duty (BCD). This scheme was introduced on 1st May 2006 and currently in force till 31.03.2023.
The minimum value addition of 20% shall be required to be achieved. Export shall be completed within 12 months from the date of online filing of application and generation of file number. DFIA is a freely transferable import authorisation issued by the Regional Licensing Authorities upon discharge of export obligation by the Exporter.
