Chloroform is an organic compound with formula CHCl3. Chloroform is a common solvent in the laboratory because it is relatively unreactive and conveniently volatile.

Fatal oral dose of chloroform may be as low as 10 mL (14.8 g), with death due to respiratory or cardiac arrest

Chloroform is used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical industry and for producing dyes and pesticides. Chloroform was once a widely used anesthetic.
